Common tasks

Open Boxes

Open the boxes, chests and packs you pick in your Items bag.

What it does
Opens the boxes, chests and packs you pick in the game’s Items bag — the whole stack of each.
Where
Instances ▸ your instance ▸ Duties ▸ Common tasks ▸ Open Boxes. Click the name, or the sliders button at the end of its row, then open Setup.
You need
Items in your bag, and at least one box picked. A fresh card picks nothing, so the row waits. The switch on and the instance running. No city map is needed.
When it runs
Once a day at a free moment, unless you choose the weekdays and a time yourself.

Open Boxes walks through the Common tab of your Items bag once and opens every box you picked. You choose from a catalogue that shows each box with the game’s own picture. Nothing is opened until you pick.

Opening cannot be undone, and it uses up the whole stack. That includes gems, chips, VIP points, gold and resource boxes. Pick only what you want opened. Open all on a category also covers boxes added to that category later.

Settings

The Setup tab holds your picks.

Find a box
Type words to search. Every word you type must appear, in any order, in a tile’s name, the names of the boxes it covers, its section or its category. A level written as Lv 20 or lv.20 reads as Lv20.
All boxes · Picked
Shows every box, or only the ones you picked. The number beside Picked counts your picks.
Categories
The list on the left, in two groups. Unpack resources: Resource boxes, Gold and Gems. Chests: Monster chests, Resource chests, Other chests and Event rewards. Each has a diamond — empty, half or full — and a count. While you search, the count shows how many boxes fit your words, and categories with none fade. Default: Resource boxes is open.
Open all
A switch above the tiles that picks every box in the category. It reads All on when full. It also covers boxes added to that category later. Click it again to clear the category. Default: off.
Select all · Clear all
Beside each section heading, for example Monsters or Safe resource box. It picks, or clears, every box under that heading at once.
Box tiles
Each tile shows the game’s own picture, the box’s name and a tick when picked. Click a tile to pick it, and click again to put it back. A tile with a ×2 or larger badge stands for several boxes, and picking it opens every one of them. Rest the pointer on it to see which. When those boxes wear different pictures, the tile shows them as a small hand of cards that fans out under the pointer. Each monster is one tile: picking Ymir opens every Ymir chest. A Safe box and its normal twin are two tiles, and so are twins told apart only by their number, such as 1M Gold and 4M Gold. Default: nothing picked.

The Schedule tab holds the timing. Common tasks explains how schedules work on this shelf.

How often
Once a day runs every game day. On days of the week runs only on the days you tick. Default: Once a day.
On
Seven day buttons, Monday first. Shown only with On days of the week. At least one day stays lit. Monday’s run is the game day that starts at the reset on your PC’s Monday. Default: all seven.
Timing
With Evonex picks the time, the task goes at the first free moment of the game day and pushes into a busy plan only as the reset gets close. With Around a set time, it waits for the time you pick, then goes at the first free moment from then. Default: Evonex picks the time.
Around
Shown only with Around a set time. A time such as 20:00 on your PC’s clock. A task that is already running finishes first, so Open Boxes can start a little after this time. If Evonex is not running at that time, that day’s run is skipped. Default: 20:00.
Run before plan tasks
Shown only with Evonex picks the time. On, Open Boxes goes before your plan’s first task of the day. Default: off.
Retry when it fails
How many times a failed turn is tried again before it waits for its next window, 1–10. 1 means do not retry. Default: 3 tries a day.

These controls belong to both tabs.

Reset card
Puts the whole card, Schedule and Setup, back to its defaults, and closes the window. It asks first.
Record line, Reset records, Done
At the bottom of the window, on both tabs. The record line reads Nothing recorded yet until Open Boxes has taken a turn, then says what it has done. Reset records is greyed out until then. It makes Open Boxes forget its turns, so it may run again today; it asks first and changes nothing in the game. Done saves and closes. The ✕ or Esc closes without saving.

How it runs

Some boxes come as a Safe version and a normal twin. They are two tiles. If you pick only one of a pair, watch the first run to make sure it opened the one you meant.

Problems?

The row says “Nothing is picked to open”.
Open the Setup tab and pick at least one box. A fresh card picks nothing on purpose, because opening cannot be undone.
The Activity Monitor says none of the picked boxes are in the bag.
That is normal when your bag holds none of them. Open Boxes only opens what is there.
A box I did not pick was opened.
Evonex tells boxes apart by their picture. Boxes the game draws alike are one pick — look for the ×2 badge and read the tile’s hover text, which lists every box it covers. A box that is not in the catalogue, but looks exactly like one you picked, may also be opened.
My Safe box was not opened.
A Safe box and its normal twin are separate tiles. Pick the Safe tile as well.
The Activity Monitor says it couldn’t open the Items window, or couldn’t reach the Common tab.
A pop-up was probably in the way, or the game was not on its city or world-map screen. Close the pop-up. Evonex tries again on its next turn.
