Viking Challenge
Summon your own Vikings along a route you set, and pass on the ones your alliance is asking help for.
Viking Challenge works the game's Viking Challenge event. With Summon my Vikings on, it confirms the difficulty you picked the first time the game shows none, then summons your own Vikings along a route you lay out: some levels it attacks with your own march, and on the others it asks the alliance for help — posting the Viking to Coordex for a Rally Setter, sharing it to alliance chat, leaving it for the alliance, or rallying it with your own march. When one of your Vikings falls, it summons the next one straight from the game's own popup, and between kills it stays on the world map. Switch on Members’ Vikings and it also posts the Vikings other alliance members are asking help for to your Coordex board — it never rallies a member’s Viking itself.
Instances ▸ open an instance ▸ Duties ▸ Common tasks ▸ Viking Challenge ▸ ⚙, or click the row's name. It is a duty, not a plan task, and its window is its whole setup — there is no separate cadence to set anywhere else. The window has two tabs, Schedule and Setup, and opens on Schedule; each tab shows an outline of the card for a moment while it loads. Hover any part of the card for what it does.
The Setup tab: the status line, the Coordex board, your own Vikings on Hard with a Solo range and a Coordex range on the ribbon (the hatched tail previewing Lv 36–45), the first range in the inspector, the rules, the march and members' Vikings.
Set it up
Open Viking Challenge from its row on Common tasks and click the Setup tab. The status line at the top says what the card still needs.
Switch Summon my Vikings on if you want the bot summoning for you. Leave it off if you only want it posting what alliance members are asking help for.
Click a difficulty emblem — Easy, Normal, Hard or Hell. Nothing is picked for you.
Lay out the Route on the ribbon: drag a boundary to move where a range ends, point at the hatched tail and click to add a range, and click a range to pick its fate in the panel under the ribbon.
If a range is attacked or rallied with your own march, set up March: pick an in-game preset, or set the generals and troops there.
Set the rules under While it runs (Rally levels) that your route shows.
If anything posts to Coordex — a Coordex range, or Members’ Vikings — pick the board under Coordex board at the top.
Optionally, on Schedule, cap the summons a day, set alliance hours, and pace the route.
When the status line reads Ready, click Done, then switch the row on.
Confirming a difficulty locks it in for the rest of the event — the game will not let you change it. The card never picks one for you; it presses only the difficulty you chose, and only once. If Evony is already locked to another difficulty, Continue a difficulty already locked in game decides whether your own Vikings carry on at that live tier or are left alone.
The Setup tab
Headed what this duty does when it runs. Under the status line come three sections, each with an icon, its name, and a line under the name that says its state; a section that still needs something wears an orange edge. The Coordex board is first and always shown, so turning a Coordex range or the members’ switch on never moves the card under the pointer. Summon my Vikings holds the difficulty, the route, the rules and the march, and folds them away while its switch is off. Members’ Vikings is last.
Status line
A lamp and one sentence, in the words of the row's own hold: Nothing to do yet, Pick a difficulty, Choose a Coordex board, Board “…” no longer exists, Set up the march, or Ready followed by the difficulty, the route's span, members shared and the board — for example Ready · Hard · Lv 1–35 · members shared · to Boss sweep.
Coordex board
The board your own Coordex levels and Members’ Vikings are posted to, marked Rally for a Rally Setter to pick up. Empty on a fresh card — nothing is posted anywhere until you choose one. The line under the title names who posts there (Lv 11–35 and members' Vikings post here), or reads Not in use — nothing posts to Coordex. It turns orange only while a post is possible and no board is chosen; with no boards at all it reads Make a board in Coordex first.
Summon my Vikings
The switch in the section's header. On, it summons your own Vikings along the route and uses a stamina pack whenever the game says summoning is short on stamina — there is no separate refill switch. Every range that asks for help also spends Viking Poleaxes on each ask. Off, your own side is left alone completely: no summon, no attack, no ask, no post, not even for a Viking of yours already out. The line under the title reads Off — none of ours are summoned, Pick a difficulty, or the difficulty and the route, such as Hard · Lv 1–35. Default: off.
Difficulty
Difficulty — Easy / Normal / Hard / Hell
The game's own four emblems, each with its recommended troop power under the name. Click one to pick it; the picked emblem lights in its tier's colour with a tick. Exactly one may be picked, and the card starts with none, because confirming one locks the game in for the whole event. While none is picked the heading reads pick one — nothing is picked for you.
Continue a difficulty already locked in game
When Evony has already locked a different tier for this event, carry on with your own route at the live tier and level. Switch it off to leave your own Viking alone on a mismatch — no summon, attack, ask, post, share or march. Members’ Vikings are shared either way, and a matching tier carries on either way. Default: on.
The route
One ribbon of levels 1 to 50 is the route's only editor. Each range is a block as wide as its levels, painted by its fate — orange for a Solo attack, solid for a range rallied with your own march, pale for a range handed to the alliance — with its icon and span inside when it fits. Up to six ranges, in level order, cover as much of the route as you set; a level past the last range is not summoned at all. A fresh card's route is Lv 1–10 Attack, then Lv 11–50 Coordex. The heading says how far the route reaches — Lv 1–35 of 50, or all 50 levels.
Route ribbon
Click a block to select its range. Each boundary carries a grip: drag it to move where a range ends — dragged onto a neighbour's end, that range is removed when you let go. Pointing at a block names its range and fate. Keyboard: Up/Down picks a range (and, past the last, the place a new one would go), Left/Right moves its end (Shift: five levels), Delete removes it.
Hatched tail
The levels past the route's end. Point at it and a dashed + block previews a new Coordex range from the next level to the one you point at; click, or drag and let go, to add it, and it is selected. Enter or Space adds the previewed range from the keyboard, Escape cancels the preview. Six ranges is the most.
Legend
Under the ribbon, the tally: how many levels are attacked, rallied, handed off and not summoned — for example 10 attacked · 25 handed off · 15 not summoned — and, at the right, how many levels ask for help, each spending Viking Poleaxes (25 asks for help).
Inspector
The selected range, in a panel whose caret points at its block: Lv 1 – and a capsule for its last level (kept between its neighbours; on the last range it moves where the route ends), then how many levels it holds.
Split
The scissors. Halves the range; both halves keep its fate. Unavailable for a one-level range or at six ranges.
Remove
The bin. A range's levels join the range before it — the first range's join the one after — and removing the last range ends the route where the range before it ends, so its levels are no longer summoned. Hidden while only one range is left.
Fate
Five tiles in two groups. Solo: Attack — summoned, then attacked with your own march (10 stamina); no Poleaxe, no ask for help. Rally: Rally — summoned, asks for help, then rallied with your own march, a 5-minute Alliance War; Coordex — summoned, asks for help, then posted to the Coordex board marked Rally, for a Rally Setter elsewhere to rally; Chat — summoned, asks for help, then its tile is shared to alliance chat; Ask only — summoned and asks for help, nothing more, and it waits in Alliance War until someone rallies it. Every Rally fate spends Viking Poleaxes on its ask.
The steps
Under the fates, the steps the bot takes for this fate, for example Summon › Ask for help with Poleaxe › Post to Boss sweep — the board's name once one is chosen.
While it runs (Rally levels)
Only the rules your route makes meaningful show here, and every one is about Rally levels — Rally, Coordex, Chat and Ask only. Solo levels never wait on them.
Check back every
How often the bot comes back while a Rally level of yours is out, to handle it and summon the next: 5 to 60 min. A fallen Viking's summon popup brings it back sooner. Shown while the route has a Rally range. Default: 15.
When Poleaxes run out
Try again or Stop. Try again keeps summoning those levels until asking for help has failed the number of tries beside it (1–10); Stop stops after the first failure. A failure older than two hours no longer counts. Shown while a range asks for help. Default: Try again, 3 tries.
Nobody kills a hand-off
Keep summoning, or Stop for today after the number of unkilled Vikings beside it (1–12). A Viking you handed to the alliance that leaves the map without being killed counts as unkilled. Stop for today stops summoning your hand-off levels until the next game day; levels your own march kills, and Members’ Vikings, carry on. Shown while a range hands its Viking off — Coordex, Chat or Ask only. Default: Keep summoning.
The march
The one march that attacks your Solo levels and rallies your Rally-fate levels: an in-game preset, or generals and troops set here. It shows only while a range is killed with it, and its heading reads not set up until it is answered.
PRESET
Which in-game march preset the March screen loads: Preset N, None — set here, or Not chosen. Opens the same Preset popup a Rally Setter slot uses. Default: Not chosen.
GENERALS
Who leads the march: The preset's own, a general preset in quotes, or Not chosen. Opens the Generals popup.
TROOPS
What the march carries: The preset's own, a typed troop line, or Not chosen. Opens the Troops popup. The March screen forgets custom troops between marches, so the bot sets them again before every march.
An unanswered row reads orange, and while the march is not set up the row on Common tasks is Held: the march isn’t set up.
Members' Vikings
Members' Vikings
The switch in the section's header. On, the bot walks the event's Alliance Trial list and posts each Viking another member is asking help for to your Coordex board, marked Rally, once. It needs a board, not a march, and never rallies a member's Viking itself; a Viking of yours asking for help is left to your own side. The line under the title reads Asked-for-help Vikings go to Coordex as Rally, or Left to the alliance while off. Default: off.
Check back every
How often the bot comes back to look for members' Vikings, 5 to 60 min. Shown while the switch is on. Default: 15.

Reset card
The Schedule tab: Limits — the day cap and alliance hours — and Pacing, with the route worked in parts of ten levels from Tuesday 18:00.
Headed the day's limit, alliance hours, and when summons start and pause. Two sections, each with a line that says it in words: Limits (Summon at most 3 Vikings a day · alliance hours 19:00–23:00, or No daily limit) and Pacing (Starts Tue 18:00 · in parts of 10 levels, a 4 h pause between, or Straight through, from the moment the event opens). With Summon my Vikings off, the tab shows one quiet panel instead — Nothing to pace — because members’ Vikings keep their own check interval.
Summon at most
A cap on how many of your own Vikings may be summoned in one game day, 0 to 50, read as 3 Vikings a day; at 0 it reads no limit. Shown while Summon my Vikings is on. Default: no limit.
Alliance hours
Any time, or Between two times on the PC's clock. Between them, your Rally levels are summoned and asked for help only inside the window; Solo levels go any time, and a Viking already asking is still posted and shared whatever the time. A window whose end is earlier than its start runs past midnight; the same time twice is never open. Shown while Summon my Vikings is on and a range asks for help. Default: Any time (19:00–23:00 once switched to Between).
Pacing
Every pacing row paces your own next summon only: a Viking of yours already out, and members’ Vikings, are handled regardless. The rows show while Summon my Vikings is on, and some only once their own answer makes them meaningful.
Start
Right away or On a day. Right away never waits. On a day holds your own summons until the day and time below arrive. Default: Right away.
Start day
Mon, Tue or Wed — the event’s three game days. Shown only while Start is On a day. Default: Mon.
Start time
The time on the PC's clock your summons start at, once the start day arrives — the first time that time comes round in that game day. A PC far ahead of the game's reset can find that time already gone for the day: an India PC (UTC+5:30) sees game day Mon begin at 12:30 local, so Mon 09:00 lands on the next calendar day. Shown only while Start is On a day. Default: 18:00.
Work the route
All in one go, By levels, By range or By kind. Splits the route into parts: every N levels, at each range boundary, or wherever the route switches between Solo and Rally. A one-range route is always one part, and one part never pauses. Default: All in one go.
Levels in a part
How many levels make up a part, 1–50. Shown only while Work the route is By levels. Default: 10.
Next part
What opens the next part once one ends: After a pause of Pause between parts, Next day — the next game day, at the Start time when Start is On a day, else at the reset — or Next alliance hours. With alliance hours set to Any time, or a window that opens and closes at the same time, Next alliance hours works as the pause. Shown while the route is worked in parts. Default: After a pause.
Pause between parts
How long the pause before the next part lasts, 1–24 h. Shown while the route is worked in parts and the next part waits for a pause. Default: 4.
Last day
A switch: Finish what's left without pausing. On the event’s last game day (Wed) it lifts the pause between parts — never Start, alliance hours or the day cap. Shown while the route is worked in parts. Default: on.
Saving the card, on either tab, reaches the run on its very next check — including a change made while a part is paused — but a pause already running keeps the end time it had.
The footer
Reset card
At the foot of both tabs. Asks first, then puts the whole card — Schedule and Setup together — back to its shipped defaults and closes the window.
Record line, Reset records, Done
The footer every duty window shares — see Daily activities. The record line says when the row looks next, for example Viking Challenge runs Monday to Wednesday — first check Mon 00:05 outside the event. Reset records forgets what this duty remembers about its own turns; your answers are untouched. Done saves the whole card and closes. The title-bar ✕ or Esc closes without saving.
How it runs
Only while the event runs. The event runs from Monday's game reset to Thursday's, and the bot looks at it only then, from five minutes after Monday's reset. From Thursday to Sunday the row reads Next check Mon 00:05 (on the PC's clock) and nothing runs.
The game's popup first. When your Viking falls the game offers the next one in a popup. If that is the Viking your route would summon next anyway, and nothing on the card says wait — Start, a part's pause, alliance hours, the day cap, the hand-off and Poleaxe rules, stamina, the march — the bot presses the popup's Summon, checks the new Viking's level on its own popup, and does what the route says at that level right there on the world map. Otherwise it closes the popup.
Otherwise it opens the Event Center, selects Activities and opens Viking Challenge on the Personal Trial tab. With the event not running this week, it spends nothing and looks again next game day.
With Summon my Vikings on, it confirms your difficulty the one time the game shows none. When a tier is already locked, it reads that tier and level and follows Continue a difficulty already locked in game. It ticks Remind me to continue so the game keeps offering the next Viking.
It works down your route, each level by its fate: Attack summons and attacks with your march; Coordex summons, asks for help, then posts it marked Rally; Chat summons, asks for help, then shares its tile to alliance chat; Ask only summons and asks for help; Rally summons, asks for help, then rallies it with your march.
It watches for the kill. Once your Solo march goes out, the bot stays on the world map and waits for the Viking to fall — about as long as the march takes, and never more than two minutes. When the game offers the next Viking, it summons on from the popup.
A summon short on stamina uses one stamina pack and tries again once; an ask for help that keeps failing follows When Poleaxes run out; a Viking nobody killed counts toward Nobody kills a hand-off. Your own summons also hold for Start and for a part's pause — a Viking already out, and members' Vikings, never do.
With Members' Vikings on, it walks the event's Alliance Trial list and posts each Viking another member is asking help for to your board, once.
A visit that went to the world map ends there; otherwise it returns to the city. It then books its next visit: Check back every while a Rally level of yours or members' Vikings need it, a one-minute look after a Solo attack, or within the hour.
When your Viking falls while another task is busy, the game's popup is closed and Viking Challenge goes next — its chip reads Due now. While another task is only waiting (an empty board, a hunt waiting for Coordex), the popup is left up and that task makes way, so this visit presses it.
What the Activity monitor shows:
The heading counts the visit's work, for example Attacked 3 · Killed 2 · Shared 2 members' Vikings.
Checking the Viking Challenge — your own row, with what your Viking did: Summoned our Lv 11 Viking, Asked the alliance for help, Waiting on the map for our Lv 12 Viking to fall…, Summoned Lv 13 from the game's popup and attacked it.
Checking members' Vikings… — each post, closing on Shared 3 members' Vikings to Boss sweep.
A last ⌛ row says what the next check is for and when: Next check on our Lv 12 Viking at 14:30, or All selected Vikings done — the route ends at Lv 35 once the route is finished, when the row reads Done.
The row is Held only by its own settings: nothing to do (your own side is off or has no difficulty, and Members' Vikings is off); a Coordex post is possible with no board chosen, or the chosen board no longer exists; or a range is killed with your march and the march isn’t set up. Alliance hours, the day cap, the hand-off rule, stamina, the Poleaxe rule and the pacing never hold the row — a visit skips what they say to skip, or waits, and says why.
Examples
Low upkeep, Silverpine:Summon my Vikings on, Easy, one Attack range over the whole route, a preset under March, Members’ Vikings off. Every Viking is summoned and attacked with that march; nothing asks for help, no Poleaxes are spent and nothing is posted.
Rally lead, Northwatch:Summon my Vikings on, Hard, Lv 1–10 Attack, Lv 11–35 Coordex, board Boss sweep, Members' Vikings on, Nobody kills a hand-off set to Stop for today after 4. Every Coordex level is asked for help and posted for a Rally Setter to pick up, members' own asks go to the same board, and your summons stop for the day once four go unkilled.
Paced restart, Ember Keep: as above, and on the Schedule tab Start set to On a day — Tue 18:00 — with Work the route set to By levels of 10 and a 4 h Pause between parts. Your summons wait for Tuesday 18:00, then pause four hours after every ten levels; a Viking already out, and members’ Vikings, are handled the whole time.
Forward only, Ember Keep:Summon my Vikings off, Members' Vikings on, a board chosen. Nothing of yours is summoned — the row only watches the Alliance Trial list and posts what other members are asking help for.
Troubleshooting
The row says Held — nothing to do.
Your own side is inactive (the switch is off, or no difficulty is picked) and Members' Vikings is off. Switch Summon my Vikings on and pick a difficulty, or switch Members' Vikings on.
It says no Coordex board is chosen, or that a board no longer exists.
A Coordex range, or Members' Vikings, needs somewhere to post. Pick a board under Coordex board at the top of Setup — check Coordex still has the one you had chosen; a renamed or deleted board reads as missing.
It says the march isn't set up.
An Attack or Rally range kills with your own march, and March has no answer. Pick a preset under PRESET, or set GENERALS and TROOPS there yourself.
It's switched on but the difficulty I picked never gets pressed.
A difficulty is pressed only in an event that has none yet. If the game already has one locked, the card cannot replace it: with Continue a difficulty already locked in game on, the run carries on at the live tier; off, it leaves your own Viking alone.
The row reads Next check Mon 00:05 all weekend.
The event runs from Monday's game reset to Thursday's, so from Thursday to Sunday there is nothing to do. The time is on the PC's clock.
It stopped summoning for the rest of the day.
Either Summon at most was reached, or Nobody kills a hand-off is set to Stop for today and enough Vikings went unkilled. Both clear on their own at the next game day.
It keeps saying Poleaxes ran out.
Asking for help failed often enough for When Poleaxes run out to apply — Try again keeps trying up to its tries, Stop stops after the first failure. A failure older than two hours stops counting on its own.
Why didn't my Viking summon at the start of the event?
Check the Schedule tab’s Start row: On a day holds your own summons until the chosen day and time on the PC’s clock, which can be a whole calendar day later than the number on the card when the PC’s clock is far ahead of the game’s reset (see Start time). A part's pause holds them too; the Pacing line names it.
I pressed Reset card on the Schedule tab and my route disappeared too.
Reset card resets the whole card from either tab — Schedule and Setup together — because the Schedule rows follow the Setup route and switch. There is no way to reset one tab alone.
